WELCOME!

The Star would like to thank the many contributors who helped provide the information in this booklet including 211 Texas; The Texas Department of Human Services, as well as the Area Agency on Aging. This is the Valley Morning Stars' second annual publication of the Senior Resource Book and first Online Senior Resource Book. As we all know, the Rio Grande Valley is a home to a large senior population of local residents here in the Lower Valley.

In fact, it is one of the fastest growing segments of our local society and is expected to grow even faster by 2010. There are many great resources and services available to provide assistance to seniors and their caregivers locally. Finding these resources and services can be a very difficult and time consuming project. This is why the Valley Morning Star has put together a Online Senior Resource Book.

We hope the information in this website will provide you or someone in your family access to the many services our communities provide locally. Community service is an excellent way to continue the process of self-discovery and growth after fulltime employment or even during your work years.

Check out the wonderful opportunities available right here in the Valley. Call 211 and they can help provide leads and information on where you can go to volunteer today.
