Long-term Care and Nursing & Rehabilitation Centers
The Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) offers information on their website than can help you evaluate the quality of long term care services. After identifying providers that look promising, you should do your own first-hand inspections and evaluations. Discuss your alternatives with a doctor or other treatment professional who knows your needs and those of your family and who is also familiar with the providers of services. You should visit the facilities, talk with the provider’s staff, and visit with their clients in order to help you make an informed choice.
The range of services that are available to Texans in need of long term services and supports includes home and community-based services programs that promote individual independence as well as services in residential and institutional facilities. In addition, you can use the Texas Information and Referral Network to find assistance for health and human services in your community or throughout the state.
The nursing facilities, assisted living centers, adult foster care, and hospice programs listed below are all evaluated by DADS using the Quality Review System.
